Kerala is the southernmost state in India and it is one of the most sought after destination in Asia. Kerala is famous for its beaches, backwaters and exceptional wildlife. But Kerala has got a number of beautiful hill stations also. Hill stations in Kerala are a perfect choice if you want to relax your mind since these are places very close to the soul of nature.  The following are the main hill stations in Kerala.

Munnar Hills: Munnar is located in the Idukki district of Kerala in the concourse of three mountain ranges –Nallathani, Mudrapuzha and Kundala. Munnar is situated 1600m above the sea level. The tree plantations and the winding lanes are truly a feast for the eye. The climate is also excellent making it a popular hill station in Kerala.

Ramakkalmedu: Ramakkalmedu is also located in Idukki district. This place is famous for the green hills and fresh air. It also offers a panoramic view of the towns and villages of the nearby state of Tamil Nadu. It is situated at a height of 3500ft above the sea level.

Rajamala: It is another hill station located in the Idukki district. It is at a distance of 15km from Munnar. This place is the natural habitat of mountain goats named Nilgiri Tahr. It is an endangered species and half of the world population of this species is in Rajamala.

Wagamon: Wagamon is also located in Idukki district along the border of the nearby district Kottayam.  It is also called the Scotland of Asia. The climate here is very cool and the temperature ranges between 10 and 25 degrees in a summer day. It is located at a height of 1100m above the sea level. We can also see large varieties of orchids and other types of flowers in wagamon. This place also has amenities for adventurous tourism like trekking, mountaineering and paragliding.

Pullumedu: pullumedu is located in Idukki.  The velvet lawns and rare species of animals and plants attract tourists to this place. The famous Hindu temple Sree Ayyappa Temple of Sabarimala is visible from this hilltop.

Vandanmedu: This is a village in Idukki district. This small place is the largest producer of cardamom in the world. You can see a lot of cardamom plantations it is really refreshing to take a walk through these plantations.

Vandiperiyar: This is a town located in the Idukki district. There are a number of pepper, tea and coffee plantations. The river named Periyar flows through the town and it nourishes all the plantations within the town.

Pattumala: Pattumala means a hill wrapped in silk. This hilltop is located in Peermedu in Idukki.  A famous Christian pilgrim centre, Velankanni matha church is located near this place.

Eravikulam National Park: This is located in Munnar in Idukki district. It is a sanctuary for the mountain goats Nilgiri Tahr. Private vehicles are not allowed inside the national park.  The highest peak to the south of Himalayas, the Anamudi is located inside the park. The visitors are only allowed in the tourist area in the park.
