It is situated at a distance of 58 kilometres from northeast of Kozhikode district. Located at an altitude of 700 meters above the sea level, Lakkadi is declared as the highest location in Wayanad. You can make your visit during the months of August to January so that you can experience the real joy of festivals like Onam, Kalpathi Ratholsavam and Pattambi Nercha. The key attraction in here is Pookote Lake, the crystal clear lake bordered by dense forests. Tourist visiting this lake can enjoy boating and it is also an ideal spot for picnic. The lake also offers other facilities like Children Park and water aquarium where you can take your children and spend some good time. You can even experience horse riding in here. Best time to visit

The months of May to December it is also called as the chirapunjee of Kerala due to heavy rainfall. It is declared as the second place to receive highest rainfall in India. How to reach

You can easily access up to Lakkadi as it is well connected to all the major cities of the state. The nearest town is vythiri located at a distance of 5 kilometres and Payyoli at a distance of 146 kilometres. Various KSRTC buses ply to Lakkadi from the nearby cities. There is no airport in Lakkadi so the nearest is Kozhikode airport at a distance of 110 kilometres. The airport is well connected to all the major airports of different countries and cities of India as well.
