There are lots of places in the world that attract the tourists to see their marvelous constructions or the historical monuments or sites but there are a few places that have no history to tell nor any tallest or the biggest to show but even then have the tourists visiting them in thousands of numbers every year. This is the Mother Nature’s beauty that was, is and going to aspire the writers and the photographers to describe the place in their own style. Today I have picked the Vellari Mala Hills located in the Western Ghats of the “God’s Own Country”-Kerala.

The Vellari Mala is a part of the Western Ghats and forms an integral part of what is known better as Camel’s Hump Mountains. The Vellari Mala is a hill range and the greater part of these hills comprises the Meppady forests of the south Wayanad district whereas some parts of these hills also falls in the Thamarassery Range of Kozhikode District. The Vellari Mala hills lie close to the Nilgiri hills of Tamil Nadu with the Chaliyar Valley separating the two.

On the eastern descend of these hills lies the Wayanad plateau that reaches to finally meet the Mysore Plateau. The hilly region is a popular site for hikers and the hills are accessible by foot and the hikers usually reach the peak and return the same day by dusk. Walking a distance of about 6 km from Muthappanpuzha one can reach the wonderful Olichuchattam waterfall. The waterfall can be accessed by travelling from Thiruvambady which is located at a distance of 15 kms.

The Vellari Mala hills are in filled with a number of small streams along with the cascades and the waterfalls that add to the beauty of the place. This place is all about the nature and seems as if nothing has changed from the time of its formation and appears will not even change in future too. The place has developed with time to become a major picnic spot too along with the trekking activities. And finally let me tell you among all your preparations for your Tour to the Vellari Mala Hills you should keep your digital camera on the top of the list because one you are in these hills the place promises to fill you memory chip with the best shots of your life.

Once you have made up your mind to visit the Vellari you must be interested in the transport so here’s some idea for you.
